My first trip to Thrown Elements was when my son was a toddler and my daughter was about 5 months old. We crafted handmade items for Father’s Day Gifts for Daddy and Papa! Daddy received a special picture frame, complete with handprints and Papa received a grilling plate with - you guessed it - handprints! The kid-friendly studio allowed for me to craft with some help from the understanding kid-friendly staff (as I obviously had my hands full) and we didn’t make too much of a mess! (But even if we did, they wouldn’t have minded!) To have your piece fired in the kiln by the employees, please allow about ten days for pickup - however, the glaze adhered to your project not only protects it from aging, but it also provides a distinct shine and polish to the piece.
You can also sign up for pottery classes and other workshops at Thrown Elements Pottery. The kid-friendly environment employs instructors who are highly qualified potters and are passionate about pottery and teaching others, especially children. Various workshops are available for parents and children to attend together, or drop-off workshops are offered for children of upper elementary ages and beyond. My daughter has attended several birthday parties at Thrown Elements and each one is as unique as the birthday girl celebrating! Hosted by a kid-friendly artist and party planner, the guests paint, play, and laugh in their own private event room. Birthday parties can be paint your own pottery, wet clay wheel throwing, or wet clay handmade ceramic making. In planning a party, please be sure to check with Thrown Elements staff to choose a party plan that suits your needs.
