If you have a Lego-loving kid, then I highly recommend putting Legoland Discovery Center on your bucket list. This amazing kid-friendly venue features twelve Lego-themed attractions that your little ones will marvel over, so plan to spend at least a couple hours there. This venue is fit for any age to enjoy, from toddlers to adults.
Go ahead and put Miniland at the top of the list for older kids and adults, though I think this is something everyone will admire, no matter the age. Your jaw will drop over these amazing figures that are built entirely out of Lego. It was so cool seeing landmarks of the city of Dallas and Cowboys Stadium built out of tiny Lego pieces. My Lego-fanatic son was taking in all the inspiration.
Another attraction more suitable for older kids and adults was the Lego Factory Tour. Personally, I thought it was pretty cool to see how Lego bricks are made, though I must say I think I was more interested in this part of the experience than the kids were. My 8 and 6 year olds kind of tuned out through this part of the experience and continually asked, “Mom, when is it time for rides?” This brings me to one of the highlights of our Legoland experience.
A major crowd-pleaser in our family was the Kingdom Quest ride. As you begin the ride, you are tasked with zapping trolls and skeletons throughout the mission of rescuing the princess. Nothing will bring out your kids' competitive side like seeing who can collect the most points throughout the ride. I can’t recall the number of times my kids asked, “Can we go again?”
Another fun ride is Merlin’s Apprentice. The faster you pedal, the faster the cart goes. My kids had a blast on this ride and also ended up going multiple times. The best part about these rides is there were hardly any lines. This makes multiple rounds on the same ride far more tolerable!
Our favorite part of the experience was definitely the Lego Build & Test area. My son and daughter had so much fun building Lego Races. Kids get to use Lego to create a racing car, then test its speed across the ramps. It was amazing to see my son’s determination to build the fastest race car and the strongest structure that he could. He could have easily spent the entire day at the Lego Build & Test alone. My daughter was not as big of a fan of the Lego Build & Test, as she became easily frustrated with building the structures.
Parents of toddlers rejoice! There is a Duplo village for little builders under 40 inches. This area is filled with large soft bricks for toddlers to create structures of their own. My toddler loved this play area, and I thought it was nice they included this section for the little ones.
